BUILDING COVERING
Covering buildings with digital prints is one of the most widespread methods of promoting advertising messages and corporate presence. It was and is a very efficient way of promotion for outdoor communication as it is impossible to go unnoticed. On the contrary, very often, a building covered with prints becomes a point of reference or even a meeting point, especially when it is located on a central artery or in a smaller town. The cost of such an action is very low compared to the advantages that the projected company has, especially in today’s current situation where our cities are no longer loaded with a plethora of messages. Covering a building is a job that requires proper handling so that the final result is stylish and safe. In many cases, a structural study is required in order to apply the safest method of support. There are two main methods of covering building facades. B) Façade decoration by applying self-adhesive vinyls on the glass panels.
A) Digital printing on vinyl (tarpaulins)
Digital printing on vinyl (tarpaulins) is basically done with two materials. The plain canvas and the perforated (mesh). The choice is case by case and is directly related to the mounting point as well as the surface to be covered. In areas with high wind resistance and large surfaces, we use perforated tarpaulin (mesh). We also use perforated tarpaulin (mesh) where we want to provide shading, since this type of tarpaulin cuts off 40% of the incoming light. In fixed “blind” areas of buildings, where there is a metal frame construction, we prefer plain tarpaulin. There is, practically, no limitation in square meters of coverage with digital printing, if all those necessary measurements and studies have been done. Vinyls are in widths up to 5 meters (small side material) and are heat-sealed accordingly to give the desired dimension. At Diastasis SA we also undertake all the special operations that the vinyls need, such as, pockets, boudouches, sleeves, reinforcements with rope and straps.
Β) Ψηφιακή εκτύπωση σε αυτοκόλλητα βινύλια
Digital printing on self-adhesive vinyl has many different applications. We can apply coloured stickers in different shapes and colours or sandblasted stickers, plain or printed. Usually in glazing of buildings we cover the whole or a specific area with easily removable stickers. The perforated sticker “works” just like the perforated vinyl (mesh), i.e. here too we have a 30-40% blockage of incoming light without having to make metal structures for suspension. There is, practically, no limitation in square meters of coverage with digital printing. At Diastasis SA, before each application, we follow a process of measuring glazing, piece by piece, for absolute accuracy in the final print. All stickers are UV laminated, significantly extending their lifetime.
Lifetime
The lifespan of digital prints depends on the place where they are placed and the weather conditions as well as environmental pollution. Indoors, the lifespan is up to 5 years and outdoors up to 3 years. The high levels of sunshine in our country, for example, and the exhaust fumes, significantly reduce the life of graphics in outdoor conditions, especially in cases where they are not laminated, as is the case with tarpaulins.
